Set in the Primorye district of Russia, a far eastern region that is nestled between China and the Sea of Japan, is the story of an Amur tiger that broke an unspoken truce of peaceful coexistence between the Primorye people and the Amur tigers. Vaillant’s book relays the story of a tiger that harms a human for the first time in the Primorye district. Through his research, Vaillant gives his readers a vivid depiction of the hunt of this tiger and the vendetta it has towards the humans hunting it. Who will reign as victor – man or tiger?

“What makes The Tiger a grand addition to the animal-pursuit subgenre is the sensitive way in which Vaillant evokes his cat. Few writers have taken such pains to understand their monsters, and few depict them in such arresting prose.” -The New York Times Book Review

As a freelance writer, John Vaillant’s work has appeared in prestigious newspapers, journals, and magazines – like National Geographic, The Atlantic, The New Yorker, and others. Vaillant’s other authored works include his first book, The Golden Spruce (2005) and his novel, The Jaguar’s Children (2015).

"John Vaillant’s recount of the clash between humans and nature keeps readers at the edge of their seats! A.P.E.X. Events is eagerly awaiting his visit to get even more insider information and this powerful story!”
