Trace Adkins Performs in 2019 Tour Concert at SUU

Southern Utah University is proud to present Trace Adkins in concert on Wednesday, July 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the America First Event Center on the SUU campus. An icon in Nashville for more than two decades, Adkins has sold 11 million albums, has won CMT and ACM awards, and has nearly 200 million plays on YouTube, and he still loves the excitement of creating and collaborating on new songs
“There’s nothing else like that,” says the Louisiana native who is back in the studio working on a new project. “That is still my favorite thing to do in this business. Go into the studio with just some lyrics and a melody and then let the finest musicians in the world help take it and turn it into something magical. It liberates me. I just dig it!”
Working with some of Nashville’s most respected songwriters, Adkins connects with his fans through his music while recording what he says are autobiographical songs from his career. He is also overcome with emotion and reflection when performing hits such as “Every Light In The House” or “You’re Gonna Miss This” and realizing that many in the crowd were not even alive when he recorded those songs and yet they still connect with the song.
Adkins says he is profoundly touched that he serves as an inspiration to a younger generation of country artists, much in the same way he revered icons like Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard when he first moved to Nashville.
“I want to be in that position,” he says of taking the reigns as an elder statesman in country music. “I want to be looked at that way. I want those guys to think and know they can walk up to me and ask me anything and know that I’m here for them and I’ll help them however I can. I relish that position.”
Adkins says he is committed to doing what he knows and loves: performing, creating, and inspiring. And he is as fired up as ever to be back on the road this year, taking his music to his fans once again.
“I’m gonna bring a band and turn it up real loud!” he says. “And we’re gonna have a good time!”
