The Wells Fargo Foundation is boosting Southern Utah University’s efforts to provide remote work training for business professionals struggling with the impact of COVID-19 on the workforce. Wells Fargo is donating $15,000 to enhance SUU’s six-part course offering access to Utah industry experts who teach best practices for managing teams remotely.
“We are grateful to the Wells Fargo Foundation for recognizing how this unique program can assist business professionals who may be struggling during this unprecedented time,” said Stephen Lisonbee, executive director of SUU’s Office of Regional Services. “Moving to a remote work environment can be a challenge for many people. Our program brings together top Utah industry experts with years of experience who will share best practices to ease the transition from an office environment to a remote work location.”
Presented by Southern Utah University’s Better Your Business leadership training program, and in partnership with the Dixie L. Leavitt School of Business and the Utah Rural Summit, the SUU Remote Work Tools program will deliver instruction and resources in an online seminar format during six lunchtime sessions.
“It’s encouraging to see Utah business leaders, like the Wells Fargo Foundation, and higher education come together as we all develop best practices for remote working,” said Dr. Mary Pearson, dean of the Dixie L. Leavitt School of Business. “This is a time when we must all support each other, maintain business productivity and work together to help our state’s economy recover from the impact of COVID-19.”
The first cohort begins May 5 and runs through May 21. Presenters include: David Mineer, CEO - Construction Monitor; Meliss Garland, VP Client Development - AtlasRTX; and Tenia Wallace, COO - Decorworx.
A second session runs May 28 through June 16.
Because of the partnership with the Wells Fargo Foundation, every participant in the first cohort will receive a scholarship at no cost to them. Registration is now open for both the first and second sessions. For more information call (435) 865-8259. At the conclusion of each cohort, participants will receive a certificate of completion.
