Southern Utah University’s Dixie L. Leavitt School of Business is proud to announce Kameron Mortezazadeh as the 2022 college valedictorian. An accounting major with a minor in finance and management, 24-year-old Mortezazadeh is from Highland, Utah. His passions include soccer and his Iranian heritage, which has played a major role in his life.

To Mortezazadeh, SUU was the perfect choice for his educational aspirations for several reasons. The size of the university and the surrounding city was perfect for that “college town” experience, a few of his family members attended the university, and he got a good scholarship. Since he has gotten married, SUU additionally has been a great fit for him because of the culture.

“My best memory at SUU over the last four years was getting married and starting our family dynamic in a place that is very welcoming to that,” Mortezazadeh commented. “My biggest passion is creating a good base and structure for my family. Money isn’t a concern; I want the dynamic in my family to be reliable. A big thank you to my wife, who is a go-getter and a doer who’s inspired me to keep going and work hard.”

SUU’s School of Business is one of the most decorated business schools in Utah, not to mention the stellar faculty and staff dedicated to student success. For Mortezazadeh, that’s made all the difference as he’s pursued his degree.

Mortezazadeh would like to offer special thanks to Professors Orton and Engst, who helped him develop important goals for his future.

As his time at SUU is coming to an end, Mortezazadeh offered his advice to any prospective or current students.

“Make sure you get your stuff done,” he said. “Take time to study, read, and understand the material. Be patient with yourself. You don’t have to be the best at everything or anything. Try in each class, get to know your professors.”

Following graduation, Mortezazadeh will be moving to Salt Lake City, Utah to start a new job at an accounting firm.

SUU’s 2022 Commencement Ceremony will be held on Friday, April 29 in the America First Event Center. Tickets are not required for the ceremony, but seating preference will be made for graduates and their families. The ceremony will also be streamed online by SUTV-9 and on SUU's social media channels.
