SUU ranked as one of the best regional universities in the WestSouthern Utah University continues to be ranked as one of the best regional universities in the West, according to ratings released by U.S. News & World Report for 2023. The annual rankings evaluate more than 1,450 colleges and universities on up to 17 measures of academic quality.

SUU also ranks second in the West among regional universities for students with the least amount of debt upon graduation.

“SUU has long placed an emphasis on providing a quality education at an affordable price to our students,” said SUU President Mindy Benson. “We’ve done this by freezing tuition rates for four straight years so that we can continue to remove the barriers of higher education for our current and prospective students.”

According to the U.S. News and World Report ratings, SUU is ranked:

  • 32 among top public regional universities in the West
  • 64 among best regional universities (public and private) in the West
  • 2 among regional universities in the West for students with least debt

SUU has achieved this success during an unprecedented level of enrollment growth. From 2010 to 2020, the University grew by nearly 57% percent, making it the 7th fastest growing regional university in the nation, according to data from the Chronicle of Higher Education.

U.S. News and World Report is the top source for higher education rankings in the nation. Rankings are organized according to a school’s mission and region in the country. Peer assessment, retention, and graduation rates account for more than half of U.S. News and World Report’s evaluation.

Celebrating its 125th anniversary, SUU offers more than 150 undergraduate programs, and 32 graduate and certificate programs. With the start of the 2022 academic year, SUU also offers its first doctorate degree program, a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.).
