Southern Utah University is proud to host the 2025 Southwest Regional High School Exhibition from January 6-31, 2025. The exhibition is being held on SUU’s campus in Bristlecone Hall, Room 123, and features the work of talented high school students from across southern Utah. The exhibition is sponsored by the Southwest Educational Development Center (SEDC), Cedar City RAP Tax, Southern Utah Museum of Art (SUMA), and the SUU College of Performing & Visual Arts (CPVA).
Students from Beaver, Garfield, Iron, Kane, Millard, and Washington counties were invited to participate in this juried exhibition, which offers young artists a unique opportunity to showcase their work and engage with SUU’s renowned art programs. A panel of three professional artists and educators reviewed nearly 100 submissions, selecting 46 exceptional works that demonstrate outstanding technical skill, design, composition, and conceptual depth. These pieces, representing three counties, highlight the creativity, ability, and promise of Utah’s next generation of artists.
The exhibition will culminate in a public Closing Reception and Open House on January 31st, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., in Bristlecone Hall. Prior to the reception, the SUU Department of Filmmaking, Art, & Design will host specialized workshops throughout the afternoon, giving high school students hands-on experience in various artistic disciplines.
“We are thrilled to offer this exhibition as a platform for young artists to showcase their work and connect with the broader art community,” said Jason Moodie, SUMA’s Director of Learning & Visitor Experience, and one of the exhibitions’ jurors. “The selected pieces reflect the remarkable talent and dedication of these students, and we look forward to celebrating their achievements.”
The Southwest Regional High School Exhibition is free and open to the public, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to explore the artwork and support the rising artists of southern Utah.
