Part of the nationwide America 250 initiative celebrating the Semiquincentennial of the United States, America in Sound will honor 250 years of American freedom, artistry, and innovation through powerful and beloved works by great American composers such as George Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein, and Aaron Copland.

“This concert is a musical celebration of the American spirit,” says Dr. Adam Lambert, Director of Bands and Music Department Chair at SUU. “Through the works of some of our nation’s most influential composers, we’re exploring what freedom sounds like—the courage, creativity, and resilience that define our shared story. It’s a chance to reflect on where we’ve come from and where we’re going as a nation.”

The SUU Wind Symphony is one of the premier ensembles in the Department of Music, known for its dynamic performances and commitment to musical excellence. This concert is the second in a season-long journey through diverse musical landscapes as part of the 2025-26 Music Masterworks Series, which showcases the talents and hard work of over 300 student musicians and esteemed faculty.
