Southern Utah University and Southern Utah Museum of Art (SUMA) invite the community to the Fall FAD Fête on November 17, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. This celebration marks the opening of Sublime: Fall 2025 BFA Exhibition alongside the Filmmaking, Art, & Design Faculty Exhibition, bringing together the work of emerging student artists and seasoned faculty. The event features light refreshments, conversation, and a welcoming atmosphere for anyone who wants to experience the creative energy thriving within SUU’s Department of Filmmaking, Art, & Design.
Michael T. Schmidt, dean of the College of Performing & Visual Arts and an exhibiting faculty member, shared his enthusiasm for the festivities. “The Fall FAD Fête brings our community into direct conversation with the artists who shape SUU’s visual arts culture. Our students and faculty work hard to bring fresh ideas to life, and this event gives everyone a chance to celebrate that commitment.”
The Faculty Exhibition, which opened on October 18, showcases work by 17 faculty members representing various disciplines, including graphic design, photography, illustration, painting, printmaking, ceramics, and 3D design & sculpture. Their work highlights the depth of expertise and artistic inquiry that guides students in their own development. This exhibition will run to March 7, 2026.
Sublime: Fall 2025 BFA Exhibition features the capstone projects of nine graduating BFA candidates: Treyson Andersen (Graphic Design, minor in Photography), Morgan Castillo (Graphic Design), Kaitlyn Corley (Photography), Macey Francis (Illustration), Katherine Introna (Graphic Design), Hadlee Marshall (Graphic Design), Bryson Peterson (Graphic Design), Seraya Young (Graphic Design), and Alejandro Falcón Blengeri (Graphic Design). Their exhibition represents the culmination of years of disciplined study, experimentation, and growth.
While no Filmmaking faculty are exhibiting at SUMA this year, the department will host a Filmmaking Faculty Screening on November 20, 2025, at 7 p.m. in Bristlecone Hall, room 105. The screening will feature works by Katie Hadar, Bill Kershisnik, and Jahanara Saleh, giving audiences a look at the innovative storytelling happening within SUU’s Filmmaking program.
Jeffrey Hanson, chair of the Department of Filmmaking, Art, & Design, reflected on the range of talent on display this fall. “The faculty show, the BFA exhibition, and the faculty screening together reveal the full scope of creativity within our department. Our students are stepping into their own artistic voices while our faculty continue to model the rigor and imagination needed to sustain a professional practice. It is exciting to share that with the community.”
The Fall FAD Fête invites guests to celebrate art, innovation, and the people who make both possible. SUMA welcomes all to take part in this spirited season of creativity. Learn more about SUMA’s current and upcoming exhibitions at www.suu.edu/suma.
