Directed by Britannia Howe, Pippin will run November 20 & 21 at 7:30 p.m. and November 22 at 2:00 p.m. in the Randall L. Jones Theatre. This production includes mild suggestive humor and innuendo.

Written by Roger O. Hirson with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, Pippin has captivated audiences for decades with its dazzling score and timeless questions about purpose and fulfillment. Originally produced on Broadway by Stuart Ostrow and directed by the legendary Bob Fosse, the musical enjoyed a celebrated 2013 revival under Diane Paulus, with the “Theo Ending” conceived in 1998 by Mitch Sebastian. SUU’s production brings new life, artistry, and wonder to this beloved story.

“The more time I spend inside this world, the more I realize how deeply it speaks to all of us,” said director Britannia Howe. “I love this music, truly. Every time a song begins, I think, ‘This is my favorite.’ Then the next starts, and I think, ‘No…it’s this one.’ That is the spell of Pippin.”

Pippin follows a young man’s journey to discover an extraordinary life, only to discover that meaning may be found in the simplest of joys. With its unforgettable score and theatrical flair, the show playfully blends spectacle with sincerity, inviting audiences to reflect on their own search for fulfillment.

The show’s dramaturg, senior Rory M. Quill said, “As the story unravels and the dancers slow to a stop, Pippin is left to consider what brings him joy when no one is directing him. As you follow his journey, consider: What simple joys shape the life you’re living right now?”

Tickets are $16 for adults, $14 for alumni, and $8 for non-SUU students. As always, SUU students, faculty, and staff receive free admission to one performance with a valid ID. Tickets can be purchased at bard.org/tdaa or at the Randall L. Jones box office up to 30 minutes before the show. A second run of the show will play on January 22-24, 2026.

Join SUU Theatre, Dance, & Arts Administration for a magical, heartfelt production that reminds us that the extraordinary might not live in spectacle, but in simplicity. To learn more about Theatre at SUU, visit www.suu.edu/pva/tdaa.
