Southern Utah University is proud to announce Master of Arts in Arts Administration candidate Megan Rasmussen has been selected to serve on the League of American Orchestras' Student Leadership Council, a national body made up of just six students from across the United States.

Formed in 2023, the Student Leadership Council was created to elevate student voices within the League's work and to support the development of the next generation of leaders in the orchestra field. The council plays a key role in advancing priorities, such as student engagement, inclusion, and long-term sustainability in orchestral music.

Megan is a returning council member, continuing her service into a second year during the 2025-2026 season. In this role, she will contribute to strategic discussions, help develop content and programming for the League's student constituency, and advocate for increased visibility of student perspectives within the national organization.

"The student leaders of today will be those who reshape the future of orchestral music tomorrow," said Simon Woods, President and CEO of the League of American Orchestras. "With their fresh ideas and perspectives, the Student Leadership Council is helping us imagine what orchestras can aspire for and achieve."

As a council member, Megan will participate in monthly meetings and take on leadership responsibilities that include supporting student membership growth and engagement, helping recruit, and program student involvement at the League's National Conference. She will serve as an ambassador in academic and orchestral partnerships, and collaborate with League leadership to help build inclusive pathways for emerging professionals in the orchestra field.

"Having the opportunity to serve the League and the broader orchestral community for a second term is incredibly humbling. I learned so much during my first term of service, and I am excited to continue that growth this year," said Megan. "Serving on the Council has allowed me to interact with industry professionals, practice leadership, and gain practical skills that will greatly enhance my career. I am grateful for this opportunity to serve my community."

Megan will also participate in the League's mentorship program, engaging in monthly meetings with orchestra professionals from across the country. This is an opportunity that further strengthens her preparation for leadership in arts administration and builds upon the knowledge she has gained as a masters student at SUU.

Her selection reflects both her individual dedication to the field and Southern Utah University's commitment to preparing students for meaningful, national-level impact in the arts.

Continuously ranked among the top most affordable online masters programs, SUU's Master of Arts in Arts Administration program provides students with the business skills to lead in the art world- learning practical tools like grant writing, fundraising, and digital marketing. Whether you want to run a gallery or advocate for culture, this degree prepares you for a purposeful job.
