Tasnova NorwinEach year, Southern Utah University is proud to welcome international students from over 90 different countries. Not only has the international program has helped to build SUU’s international presence, but many of these T-Birds are working to benefit the larger community in significant ways. One such student is Tasnova Nowrin.

Norwin has traveled far from her home in Bangladesh to pursue an MBA in Healthcare Administration at SUU. With SUU’s AACSB accredited MBA program and close knit community, Norwin continues to excel beyond all expectations.

“I am driven by a strong desire to improve healthcare systems and make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes,” Norwin said. “My academic journey, professional experiences, and family support motivate me to stay focused and resilient.”

Norwin submitted a paper titled, “Effective Coalition Composition as a Nonmarket Strategy: Vertical and Horizontal Coalitions in the Healthcare Sector” to the Academic Journal of Management, showcasing her exceptional skill and determination to aid others in need. Her paper examined how vertical coalitions - such as hospitals, physicians, and other industry associations - and horizontal coalitions, or non-industry stakeholders, influence corporate political activity.

Norwin has gone above and beyond in strengthening her skills in leadership, management, and communication, and is gearing up to apply those skills in the workforce.

“I encourage future students to seek mentorship, stay curious, and actively engage in research and campus opportunities,” Norwin said. “Taking initiative and building relationships makes a significant difference. Consistency and self-belief are key to long-term success.”

Norwin aims to continue working in the healthcare field by focusing primarily on improving healthcare quality through research. By contributing to research that informs healthcare policy and improvement initiatives, Norwin hopes to create lasting change in healthcare organizations.

Norwin is an example of how hard-working students can thrive with experienced mentors and a supportive environment. The many opportunities to practice leadership in her research and classes have shaped Norwin’s education and confidence. T-birds can find that same hands-on experience and guidance at the College of Health Sciences.
