The Southern Utah University Wind Symphony will present its final Music Masterworks Series concert of the season, Transcendent Journey, on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. in the Heritage Center Theater.
Under the direction of Dr. Adam Lambert, the Wind Symphony will perform an eclectic and globally inspired program that highlights a wide range of compositional voices and cultural perspectives. The evening promises a dynamic exploration of sound, from sweeping cinematic textures to bold fanfares and deeply expressive symphonic works.
“The idea behind Transcendent Journey is to bring together a spectrum of compositional perspectives that reflect both individuality and shared human experience,” said Dr. Lambert. “Each work offers a distinct voice, yet collectively they form a larger narrative that celebrates cultural exchange, artistic diversity, and the transformative power of music.”
The program features six compelling works, including Rossano Gallante’s soaring Transcendent Journey, Peter Mennin’s Canzona, Kimberly K. Archer’s Fanfare Politeia, Paul Hindemith’s ‘March’ from Symphonic Metamorphosis, and April 3-10, 2026 by SUU’s own Joseph Howe.
A centerpiece of the program is Julie Giroux’s Symphony No. IV: Bookmarks from Japan, a six-movement work inspired by Japanese landscapes, art, and cultural landmarks. From the majestic stillness of Mount Fuji to the bustling energy of Tokyo’s Nihonbashi district, Giroux’s symphony offers a vivid musical journey through Japan. Each movement captures a unique atmosphere, blending rich orchestration with evocative storytelling to immerse listeners in both place and perspective.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for alumni, and $5 for youth and non-SUU students. SUU students, faculty, and staff are admitted free with a valid SUU ID. Tickets will be available 30 minutes prior to the performance at the Heritage Center Theater ticket office.
