SUU Zoom Account Guidelines

SUU recently purchased 150 Zoom Pro Licenses to be utilized by SUU instructors. With this purchase, we are able to integrate Zoom within Canvas to make it easier for instructors to set up one-on-one, small group, and large group meetings. Instructors can also utilize these accounts for virtual office hours. To assist with distributing these licenses, the following guidelines will be utilized until we are able to increase the number of licenses available to faculty.

Prioritization List

  • Teaching a course as part of the Academic Partnerships Program
  • Teaching an online or hybrid course
  • Already has a paid SUU Professional Zoom account
  • Only teaching face-to-face courses

We will be able to adjust faculty between Professional and Basic licenses. Key differences between the two account types include:

Professional Account

  • Host up to 100 participants
  • Unlimited 1 to 1 meetings
  • 24 hour limit on group meetings
  • Unlimited number of meetings
  • Online support
  • Customized Reports
  • Custom Personal Meeting ID

Basic Account

  • Host up to 100 participants
  • Unlimited 1 to 1 meetings
  • 40 mins limit on group meetings
  • Unlimited number of meetings
  • Online support

Instructors who have not used their Professional Zoom account within a six month window will be changed to a Basic Zoom account. This will allow us to free up licenses for faculty that need longer meetings. Those instructors that are moved to a Basic Zoom account can request to be moved back to a Professional Zoom account, but receiving the professional account will be based on available licenses.
