How to join a club at SUUOne of the best ways to personalize the college experience is by joining clubs offered on campus. Southern Utah University hosts well over 150 clubs that students flock to. From academic clubs to sports and dance clubs, to language and culture clubs, clubs about the arts, clubs that are just for fun, there is something for everyone at SUU. Here’s how to get involved with clubs at SUU.

Attend Events

There are many events held over the course of each semester that promote clubs and encourage mass sign-ups. One of those events is Paint the Town Red, an annual event that takes place in the fall where students can sign up for clubs as well as participate in a night of activities while dressed all in red to show school spirit. Clubs hold tables and booths during the event and students can inquire about how to sign up for the ones they are interested in.

Utilize T-Bird Connection

T-Bird Connection is a website where students can find upcoming events, join organizations, and track their involvement with school-sponsored and student-sponsored clubs and activities. It’s a great way to see what’s coming up that students can attend or be involved with.

Check Your SUU App

To see a condensed list of all the clubs and organizations on campus, go to the SUU app. On the home page, click the button labeled “Clubs” to see an alphabetical list of clubs and organizations that students can join! If you select any club from the list, it will pull up a secondary page with a synopsis of the club’s goal or purpose, as well as contact information for the person in charge of it.
Additionally, being involved goes beyond just joining clubs and organizations; at SUU, tradition is an important part of the campus’ identity. On the homepage of the SUU app is a tab labeled “Tradition Keeper.” Click it, and discover all the events that students can participate in to be a true SUU Tradition Keeper. If you’re not interested in downloading the app, visit the SUU website under Clubs to get started.

Stay Involved

The biggest part of being a member of a club is going to the meetings and attending any special events they may hold. Contribute what you can to the club and get the most out of your experience! Make friends! Pursue special interests! Some clubs may even hold elections where students could run for office.

Create Your Own Club

If none of the clubs on campus seem interesting, then start a new club! To do so, make sure the club has at least 5 members, an advisor, a constitution, is created along with the standards in the Club Handbook, and has approval from the Clubs and Organizations Committee. Reach out to the Clubs and Organizations Committee surrounding any questions about starting a club.

There are so many ways to get involved on campus beyond just clubs and organizations! Find volunteer opportunities that can not only help boost a resume but can provide experience and an opportunity to make a difference in the community. Reach out to a club, organization, or volunteer opportunity to get started!
