Snowy SUU campus with T-Bird Nation lettersDear Students,

Finals Week is upon us! What a memorable fall semester we’ve had together. In between your studying, papers, and exams – take a moment to reflect and recognize how far you’ve come and celebrate all you’ve accomplished in the last few months. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised to realize that you’re doing better than you think you are. The lessons and knowledge you’ve gained both inside and outside of the classroom this semester will help you succeed not just during this week, but in your personal and professional life after college. As SUU’s motto reminds us, “Learning Lives Forever”.

I know finals week can be stressful. Make sure to take breaks and find little ways to relax and de-stress. Listen to your favorite study playlist, go on a walk (even if it’s a lap around the 3rd floor of the library), drink water, watch a video that makes you laugh. Or join us tonight, December 12th at 9 pm for our annual late-night FREE Pancake Study Break in the dining hall.

T-Birds, you’ve got this. You can do hard things. I recently came across a quote from Utah Business leader, philanthropist, and SUU honorary doctorate degree recipient Gail Miller who said, “we should not fear anything that comes before us. We should take courage to step into that space and use the talents and abilities we have to develop who we are and what we can become.” Don’t be afraid of what’s ahead of you. You’re doing better than you think! Take courage and seize the opportunity to develop yourself and who you want to become. That’s what higher education is all about.

On behalf of all of the SUU faculty and staff, we are so proud of you and want you to succeed! Finish strong this week and know you have the support of so many who are cheering you on. If there was a professor or staff member who made a particular impact on you this semester, might I suggest sending them a quick email expressing your appreciation? One sincere “thank you” goes a long way.

For those who are graduating this semester, congratulations! We hope you’ll be back in April to walk in the commencement ceremonies. For everyone else, we are excited to see you on campus or online in January. In the meantime, best of luck with finals and enjoy your break!

Your fan,
Mindy
