SUU Alumni Spotlight Bredeca AnthonyThe SUU College of STEM is proud to present the fall alumni spotlight, Bredeca Anthony. She graduated from Southern Utah University in the Spring of 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Information Security.

Anthony vividly remembers her first days at SUU, where she was warmly welcomed by student ambassadors during orientation. That experience left such a strong impression that she decided to become an ambassador herself. By her third year, she was appointed as the International Representative in the SUU Student Senate, a role that allowed her to expand her impact from greeting small groups of students to representing the interests of more than 600 international students across campus.

Looking back, Anthony mentioned that a major influence on her academic journey was Dr. Gary L. Wallace, a Professor of Cybersecurity & Information Technology. Dr. Wallace’s mentorship helped shape her confidence and perspective. Like many students, she struggled at times with imposter syndrome, but Dr. Wallace consistently reminded her of her abilities and accomplishments, helping her reframe her self-doubt into self-belief. His trust in her potential served as both a comfort and a challenge, encouraging her to rise to every occasion and believe in the value of her contributions.

Anthony’s hard work was formally recognized during her final year at SUU when she was awarded the Outstanding Student Award by the Computer Science and Cybersecurity Department. This honor reflected not only her academic excellence but also her leadership, service, and positive impact on the SUU community.

After graduating from SUU, she pursued graduate studies at one of the world’s most prestigious institutions: the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). There, she earned a Master of Science in Management of Information Systems and Digital Innovation. She completed the program in December 2023. Currently, Anthony works as a pre-sales solution consultant at a major telecommunications company in Malaysia.

Outside of her professional life, she enjoys baking and running. Her favorite homemade desserts are brownies and carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Whenever she’s not baking, she’s running. Recently, she completed her first half-marathon at one of Malaysia’s largest running events, which had over 30,000 participants.
