Jazzelyn Green graduated from Southern Utah University in the Spring of 2024 with a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering. One of the most impactful experiences during her time at SUU was developing the clutch safety feature for her senior capstone project. The design presented many challenges, teaching Jazzelyn valuable lessons about the importance of collaboration, knowing when to seek help, and trusting the process of continual improvement, skills that have carried into her professional life as an engineer.
Among the faculty, Dr. Jacob Bishop had a particularly significant influence, offering guidance on both engineering concepts and career development while encouraging Jazzelyn to use her strengths in projects. Dr. Scott Munro also played a key role by challenging Jazzelyn to think critically and expand beyond what she believed she was capable of achieving.
"My senior year capstone project taught me that as an engineer, one
of the most valuable skills is to know who to ask for help," said Green. "To also expect and prepare for multiple design improvements, meaning trust the process."
Since graduation, Jazzelyn has pursued a career as a Materials and Processes Technologies Engineer at Boeing, where she conducts material investigations on non-conforming products to ensure flight safety. Having established a strong professional foundation, Jazzelyn will begin pursuing a Master's in Interdisciplinary Engineering at Purdue University in the spring.
Family remains a central part of Jazzelyn's life, providing inspiration and support through every milestone. Her mother, who recently earned her master's in nursing, has especially motivated Jazzelyn to continue striving for growth and balance. Now living in Arizona, Jazzelyn enjoys exploring the arts through aerial dance and Bachata, practicing aerial silks, Lyra, heels, and salsa. On quieter weekends, she enjoys relaxing with her orange tabby cat, Douglas.
