Southern Utah University's Professional Pilot Program offers its students an incredible opportunity to prepare to compete for commercial pilot jobs with advanced fixed wing flight training.

The ultimate goal for our students is gainful employment flying for commercial aviation companies. SUU has designed the Professional Pilot Program with knowledge of the educational and flight training requirements demanded by prospective employers. Our students leave uniquely prepared to compete for the best commercial jobs in the aviation industry worldwide.

Is your dream to fly airplanes for a living?

In order to earn a career in aviation as a pilot you must not underestimate the importance of the training process. There are many pathways that lead to gainful employment in the aviation industry, but there is only one path that will get you to the top jobs. The training that SUU students receive is comprehensive and goes above and beyond the minimum FAA requirements.

Whether you want to pursue a career as a flight instructor, airline pilot, agricultural pilot, or a cargo delivery pilot, all of your necessary skills will be developed in your training at SUU. There are many rewarding pilot careers with a rapidly growing future across a number of industries, and the field of aviation includes many industries that are immune to changes in the global economy. While much business has gone online, and many means of production have been automated, there is no easier or faster way to transport someone or something safely across the country than by air transport.

Fixed Wing flight training is provided by Southern Utah University (SUU) to offer the Professional Pilot Program for prospective commercial pilots. Earn a college degree while completing your flight training to preparing for a career in aviation.

We offer the following Pilot Training Programs:

  • Pilot Certification
  • Instrument Rating
  • Commercial Rating
  • CFI/CFII (flight instructor) Training

Southern Utah University conducts flight training in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 61 and 141*. Our training aircraft include Cirrus SR20 and the Beechcraft Baron. Our aircraft are maintained to the highest standards, and our instructors are dedicated to providing the highest quality instruction available. Students receive individualized instruction in a one-on-one environment with their instructors.

  • 141 approved courses include Private Pilot Certification (ASEL) and Commercial Pilot Certification (ASEL).

SkyWest Airlines Cadet Program

SkywestThe SkyWest Pilot Pathway and Tuition Reimbursement program allows qualified SUU students to complete their flight training with a clear pathway to a career as a SkyWest Airlines pilot. In addition to the $10,000 of available tuition reimbursement, SUU students in the SkyWest Pilot Pathway Program will be mentored by SkyWest pilots, receive an enhanced introduction to SkyWest and enjoy enhanced seniority within their ground school upon becoming a SkyWest First Officer.
