School Library Minor
The School Library Minor is designed for those interested in libraries or who seek to better understand the research resources available in the library. This will not lead to public school endorsement.
How do I apply?
Students must fill out and turn in the School Library Application. Students must be admitted to the University and register. You can contact the Registrar's office with any questions at 435-586-7715.
What are the requirements?
The minor requires 16 credits of which nine must be taken at SUU. Older credit may be accepted. Research our course descriptions.
Core Requirements (13 credits):
- LIS 4200 - Information Literacy Instructions (3 Credits)
- LIS 4300 - Reading Engagement and Media Literacy (3 Credits)
- LIS 4500 - Leadership, Advocacy, and Professional Responsibility (3 Credits)
- LIS 4600 - Technology for School Librarians (3 Credits)
Elective Courses (4 credits):
Select a minimum of 4 credits from the following:
- ACCT 2010 - Accounting Principles (3 Credits)
- COMM 1070 - Introduction to Visual Communication Graphics (3 Credits)
- COMM 2120 - Team Work, Decision Making, and Leadership (3 Credits)
- COMM 2150 - Global Communication and Culture (3 Credits)
- EDUC 1010 - Exploring Education in Society (3 Credits)
- INDS 2000 - Introduction to Interdisciplinary Studies (3 Credits)
