Southern Utah Museum of ArtIn celebration of Southern Utah University’s 125th Birthday, SUU, in partnership with the Visit Cedar City • Brian Head is hosting a series of guided experiences. These tours will showcase the University as never before. Exploring the past, present, and future of SUU, these guided experiences are a true celebration of the spirit of our founders. January's event will be an exploration of the faculty exhibition at the Southern Utah Museum of Art, including the opportunity to go behind the scenes.

This biennial exhibition is an opportunity for the campus and community to celebrate the work of SUU's distinguished faculty members, who have earned regional, national, and international recognition for excellence in their areas. The variety found in this exhibition offers different perspectives and media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, installation art, digital, photography, and graphic design. In honor of the 125th anniversary of SUU, this year’s faculty exhibition also includes former art faculty with works from the permanent collection.

Jessica Kinsey, executive director at SUMA will be the tour guide. The tour will be held on Thursday, January 19 at 7 p.m. Please meet at SUMA, located on the southeast corner of 300 West and University Blvd in Cedar City. The tour will last approximately one hour and is free and open to all.

In 1897 the founders of Southern Utah University believed so strongly in the power of education that they risked their lives and finances for the privilege of building and hosting an institution of higher education in rural Cedar City, Utah. Their determination and grit are woven into the cultural fabric of SUU. SUU’s enduring legacy is built on 125 years of fortitude, determination, and community triumph. Celebrate with us as we explore our rich history and prepare for a bright future.
