Katie Englert Named Director of SUU Honors Program

SUU Honors Program director Katie EnglertThe Southern Utah University Provost’s Office is pleased to announce that Professor Katie Englert has been selected as the new SUU Honors Program director. After serving as lecturer for the program for the past five years, and the interim director for the past year, Professor Englert will officially begin as permanent director on July 1, 2023.

“I am so excited to have Katie at the helm of the SUU Honors Program,” said Dr. Bill Heyborne, associate provost. “Her passion for the interdisciplinary nature of the program and her dedication to students make her the perfect person to take the reins at this time. I look forward to watching the program flourish under Professor Englert’s watchful care.”

Professor Englert graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Arts in Photojournalism and Anthropology. She then earned a Master of Arts in Anthropology from The Australian National University. Her current research focuses on collaborative instruction and information literacy. A world traveler, Professor Englert uses her experience living in Australia, Japan, and across the U.S. to help her guide students to encounter unique perspectives. She has gained extensive experience in higher education, instructing and mentoring students for over twenty-five years.

The Honors Program looks forward to continuing under the leadership of Professor Englert.
