Southern Utah University Celebrates Homecoming Week

Southern Utah University’s campus is preparing for homecoming with excitement as alumni, students, faculty, staff and community come together to celebrate being a part of the T-Bird family. This year’s celebration will take place from September 18 to September 23.

The first athletic event of the week kicks off on Thursday, September 21 with a Volleyball Game vs. GCU at 6:30 p.m. at the America First Event Center.

The Alumni Homecoming Banquet will be hosted that same evening in the Gilbert Great Hall located in the R. Haze Hunter Alumni Center. Due to limited seating, RSVPs will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis by contacting Camaree Staheli at staheli@suu.edu. The Alumni Association is proud to honor the following as Alumni Honorees at this year's banquet: Steve Laing, Outstanding Alumnus; Don and Jacque Marchant, Distinguished Service; Jared Garlick, Young Alumnus; Kent & Cherie Myers Family, Legacy Award.

Red Friday (September 22) promises to be a day packed full of Thunderbird spirit with all T-Birds expected to showcase school spirit by donning their red apparel.

Forever Red on Upper Quad at 7:00 p.m. is open to the entire Cedar City and Campus community to enjoy live music featuring RED-a tribute to Taylor Swift and Metro Music Club. Fireworks, food trucks, inflatables and so much more can be found alongside a night full of dancing and celebration.

Saturday morning (September 23) at 9:00 a.m., SUU Alumni Relations will host the complimentary homecoming pancake breakfast in the Hunter Alumni Center parking lot. Following the pancake breakfast, watch the Homecoming Parade starting at 10:00 a.m. along University Boulevard.

The SUU Volleyball team will face off against California Baptist University for their second game of the week at 12:00 p.m. in the America First Event Center.

The final Homecoming Week event will be to cheer on the SUU Football team in their first home game of the year. The HomecomingTailgate will take place in Lot 14 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Following the tailgate, the Thunderbirds will take on the Western Illinois Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. in the Eccles Coliseum.
