2023 SUU Influencer Awards

SUU sign up close with a sun flare through the letters Each year, Southern Utah University's Student Affairs Division, partners with the Career and Professional Development Center to present a faculty and staff member with the Influencer of the Year Award. This year the award recognizes the hard work and dedication of three individuals from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. The SUU Influencer Award is a very prestigious honor," said Jared Tippets, vice president for student affairs. "The graduates nominate faculty and staff members who have made a significant impact on their success as SUU. Those who receive this award should feel extremely proud of their efforts to make a difference in students' lives and to forever impact T-Bird Nation."

"The people that I nominated for the SUU Influencer Award were instrumental in my success during college. They were always willing to give advice, help me learn, and made my experience at SUU great. Without them being so willing to help me be successful, I doubt I'd be in the same spot that I am today. I'll always be grateful for my Influencers!" said Clara Webster, an SUU alum and now employee. Alex Seils is an SUU alum and now works full-time as the administrative assistant at the Career Center, and he offered his thoughts on those he nominated. “I was having a really rough time making friends and connections before I started working [in the Registrar's Office] as a student, and those staff members took me under their wings and made me feel like I was important and had potential to do great things. Without them inspiring me, I would've been really tempted to drop out of school, and I wouldn't be in the awesome job I have today!”

SUU is thankful for all the faculty and staff on and off campus who teach, inspire and cultivate a learning environment for their students. A special thanks goes out to the students who nominate their professors and other campus mentors, allowing the university to be able to recognize these outstanding members of faculty and staff. Nominations for 2023 have closed, however nominations for the 2024 Influencer Awards will be opening sometime in the next few months.
