Southern Utah University's 2025 Truth in Tuition hearing is scheduled for 3 p.m. in the Starlight Room on March 19. This annual meeting is a required step in the process for Utah System of Higher Education institutions to determine tuition and fee adjustments for the upcoming academic year. Those who can’t attend in person can tune in via Zoom.

The proposed tuition increase for 2025-26 is between 1.2% and 3%, which means a full-time resident undergraduate student taking 15 credit hours would pay approximately $37 to $93 more per semester.

"As we navigate the ongoing financial challenges facing higher education, we remain deeply committed to the success of our students," said SUU President Mindy Benson. "We are mindful of affordability and will not compromise the quality of the exceptional student support and work-based learning opportunities that define the SUU experience."

In the public hearing, President Benson will explain how tuition and student fees are used at SUU, to manage university expenses that are not covered by other resources.

"We understand the financial concerns of our students and their families, and we've worked hard to minimize tuition and fee increases wherever possible," said Vice President of Finance and Administration Mary Pearson.

After the hearing, SUU's Board of Trustees will vote on the proposed adjustments, followed by the Utah Board of Higher Education.

The Board of Trustees will meet to approve tuition on March 20, prior to the Utah Board of Higher Education's meeting on March 21.
