Annual Awards Banquet to Honor Distinguished Alumni and the Class of 1975

Alumni and Class of 1975 Award BanquetThe Alumni Awards Banquet takes place on Thursday, Sept. 25, 6:30 p.m. in the Gilbert Great Hall of the Hunter Alumni Center on SUU’s campus as part of the annual homecoming events. Three individuals will be recognized for their contributions in their respective professions and for their exemplary service to Southern Utah University and their communities.

Outstanding Alumnus Award - Aimee Anderson Oravec Aimee, a 1995 SUU graduate with a degree in social science and history, went on to earn her law degree from the prestigious Washington University College of Law in St. Louis, Missouri. She began her career in civil law before serving as vice president of Regulatory Strategy and Governance at Utility Services of Alaska, Inc. and later as general counsel at Doyon Utilities, LLC. Today, she is a justice on the Alaska Supreme Court.

Distinguished Service Award - Scott "HRH" Johnson A native of Marysvale, Utah, Scott graduated from SUU in 1984 with a bachelor of science degree in accounting and a minor in business administration. He has enjoyed a career in banking where today, he is the CFO and executive vice president at Valley Bank of Nevada. For three years, Scott served as president of the SUU Alumni Association and as member of the SUU Board of Trustees. He has been a go-to alumnus in Las Vegas and the backbone of alumni activity.

Young Alumnus Award - Madyson Howard A former member of the SUU Flippin' Bird gymnastics team, Mady specialized in the floor exercise and vault. Today, she's a nurse at St. George Regional Hospital where she worked in the ICU throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and is now in the infusion clinic and on the PICC team. Mady is also a favorite on American Ninja Warrior , where she has appeared for six seasons and made it to the national finals four times. Class of ‘75 The event will also recognize SUU’s class of 1975, as they are welcomed as the newest members of the “50-Year Club.
