Southern Utah University's 2026 Truth in Tuition hearing is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, in the Smith Center Theater. This annual meeting is a required step in the process for Utah System of Higher Education institutions to determine tuition and fee adjustments for the upcoming academic year. Those who cannot attend in person may participate via Zoom.

The proposed tuition increase for 2026-27 is between 1.5% to 3%, which means a full-time resident undergraduate student taking 15 credit hours would pay approximately $48 to $97 more per semester.

"At Southern Utah University, we take seriously our responsibility to ensure students receive meaningful value from their investment," said SUU President Mindy Benson. "Every tuition decision is approached with care, transparency, and a deep commitment to student success. We are focused on providing an exceptional, high-impact educational experience while remaining mindful of affordability for our students and their families."

During the public hearing, President Benson will explain how tuition and student fees are used at SUU to support instruction, student services, academic programs, and university operations not fully covered by state appropriations and other resources.

"We recognize that every dollar matters to our students and their families," said Vice President of Finance and Administration Mary Pearson. "We approach tuition planning with discipline and care, working to contain costs while protecting the quality of the educational experience."

Following the hearing, SUU's Board of Trustees will vote on the proposed adjustments, with final consideration by the Utah Board of Higher Education at its subsequent meeting.
