Instructure Canvas Nationwide Security Incident

Southern Utah University is aware of and investigating a nationwide data security incident involving Instructure, the company that provides the Canvas learning management system used by many colleges and universities nationwide.
At this time, SUU is monitoring information provided by Instructure as the company continues its investigation. According to Instructure, the incident has been contained, and the company is continuing to assess the scope and nature of the information involved.
Instructure said it found no indication that passwords, dates of birth, government identifiers, or financial information were involved in this incident.
Canvas is currently operational for faculty, staff and students to continue using. SUU's Center for Teaching Innovation is resetting integrations such as Honorlock and Kaltura. As a result, there may be some disruption in using these integrations.
Instructure is posting regular updates on their incident update webpage. The Utah System of Higher Education is monitoring the incident response and will provide additional information and guidance as more details become available.
SUU students and employees should monitor their accounts closely for unexpected activity and report any concerns to privacy@suu.edu.
