Mourning the Loss of Student and Fallen Soldier

It is with a heavy heart that I share news that one of our own, 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, was among the soldiers killed in action on July 18 in Jordan while serving in support of military operations in the region. 1st Lt. Feehan was an SUU graduate and current student in our MBA program. Our hearts are with his family, fellow service members, classmates, and all who knew and loved Tyler as we mourn this profound loss together. We are grateful for his service; his sacrifice will forever be remembered by the Thunderbird community.
1st Lt. Feehan was approved for graduation and just weeks away from completing his MBA. His degree will be awarded posthumously in recognition of his academic achievement.
In memoriam, the SUU community will honor 1st Lt. Feehan across campus in the coming weeks, beginning with a recognition during the Pioneer Legacy Celebration at SUU this Thursday night. Next week, the Carter Carillon will be adorned with a yellow ribbon and play The Army Song every day at 12pm. Additional opportunities to pay tribute will be shared in the coming days.
1st Lt. Feehan received a commission as an Air Defense Artillery Officer in the United States Army through the SUU Army ROTC program in the Spring of 2024 and was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 55th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 32nd Army Air and Missile Defense Command, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He also served as a member of the 2nd Battalion, 222nd Field Artillery, Utah Army National Guard in Cedar City, Utah while he attended SUU.
