T-Bird Ready with Professional Internship Program

T-Bird Ready is a valuable addition to the Professional Internship Program. It represents your preparation for your post-graduation journey. Achieving the T-Bird Ready certification means that you have successfully completed tasks to become proficient in career competencies endorsed by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). By completing digital badges in each NACE competency, you are demonstrating your career readiness. In this program, you will be required to select two competency badges to complete by the end of the semester. As you complete these badges we hope that you will develop the skills needed to be competitive candidates in the job market.

What is T-Bird Ready, and How Do I Get Started?

Becoming T-Bird Ready gives you an advantage in securing internships, job opportunities, and ultimately, your career. Receiving the T-Bird Ready achievement shows that you have successfully completed the eight NACE career competency badges. As part of the Professional Internship Program, you are required to complete 2/8 competency badges. These competencies are:

  1. Career & Self-Development

  2. Communication

  3. Critical Thinking

  4. Equity & Inclusion

  5. Leadership

  6. Professionalism

  7. Teamwork

  8. Technology

Each competency comprises subcategories for which you can earn digital badges. Upon completing 80% of the subcategories within a competency, you receive a digital badge signifying your proficiency in that specific area. To earn your two badges, you will need to do the following:

  1. Collaborate with your mentor to select two competency badges that align with your career goals and aspirations. For example, I might choose to work on the "Leadership" and "Teamwork" competencies during my internship.
  2. Submit your two selected competencies that you are choosing to work on through the competency selection form.
  3. Actively work with your mentor throughout the semester to complete the chosen badges successfully. This process involves joint efforts to identify opportunities and experiences that allow students to demonstrate and develop the specified competencies.
  4. Submit proof of your earned skills through the form below under the "How to Submit Proof to Earn a Digital Badge" section. A digital badge will be awarded to you, which you can share on LinkedIn or with other professionals to prove your skills in these competencies.

This form is optional for you to use as you try to determine the competencies you want to complete this semester: T-Bird Ready Requirements
