SUBJECT: Unemployment Insurance


I. PURPOSE

The purpose of this Policy is to provide unemployment insurance for workers under the Utah Employment Security Act.

IV. POLICY

  1. The Utah Employment Security Act provides unemployment insurance payments for unemployed workers, and establishes a statewide system of employment offices which provide job placement services and related economic forecasting and reporting activities.
  2. SUU participates in the Utah Employment Security Act as a Reimbursable Employer. Reimbursable Employers are liable for payments in lieu of contributions and pay to the Department of Workforce Services an amount equal to the benefits paid to former employees. These payments are due and payable monthly. Reimbursable employers do not currently pay for any administrative expenses of the unemployment insurance program.
