University Curriculum Committee (UCC)
The University Curriculum Committee (UCC) is governed by SUU Policy 6.8 Development and Revision of Curriculum and General Education. It is the curriculum approval body after the individual departments and Colleges/Schools have proposed, reviewed, and approved the curriculum proposals through Curriculog, the University's curriculum software. The UCC is composed of one elected or appointed voting member from each College/School and the Library (to be determined by the faculty within the College/School according to agreed-upon processes), and non-voting representatives from Faculty Senate, SUUSA, the Registrar’s Office, and Academic Advising. The UCC is chaired by a designee from the Office of the Provost, who votes only in case of a tie.
The UCC is tasked with:
- Ensuring consistency in the curriculum;
- Ensuring appropriate alignment between learning outcomes, learning activities, and assessment methods in the curriculum;
- Confirming that prior levels have reviewed each proposal to ensure budgetary adequacy and instructional resources are sufficient to support the new or modified curriculum;
- Identifying redundancies in the curriculum and making recommendations on solutions; and
- Encouraging collaborative curriculum development.
