To help you with the tasks that aren’t part of your classes, SUU offers a number of user-friendly tools that you might not even be aware of.  From tools like an AI Recruiter to a net price calculator, there’s a range of helpful tools at your fingertips.

Let’s take a look at these cool tools!

Job Outlook

Many online and graduate program pages on SUU’s website include an interactive, real-time Job Outlook tool where you learn about what careers alumni are in and what the average salary is for that role.

The job outlook includes:

  1. Your desired location
  2. Salary Range
  3. Overview - this includes the number of currently employed, average salary, and number of job postings
  4. Top Occupations by Income - includes the average salary
  5. Employment Trends - includes past growth and projected growth with a graph.

Use this tool to get more of an idea of what types of jobs you may qualify for when you graduate with your degree. This tool is also nice as it gives you more context on the average salary for careers within your degree and what salaries look like for each career.

For example, students in the online Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice can view the Job Outlook tool on the program’s website and see that the top occupations by income are: postsecondary teachers, detectives and criminal investigators, police and sheriff’s patrol officers, and bailiffs. They can also view that the projected growth from 2025-2029 is a 9.8% increase for employment, and that the average salary is $64,765. This gives online students in this program insights into what occupations they are qualified for and what the average salary looks like.

AI Recruiter

SUU Online and Graduate Studies program pages have an AI Recruiter at the bottom right side of the page. This AI Recruiter, named Ben Thorley, can help answer questions you may have or connect you to the right resource. This tool is extremely helpful especially if you have questions outside of the normal business hours and cannot reach SUU Online’s recruiters.

Study Abroad Program Finder

The Office of Learning Abroad has a Study Abroad Program Finder for students to access and explore all of the available programs using this tool. The Study abroad program finder categorizes the available programs by the subjects included in the program, where the program will take place, and what term it takes place during.

For example, online students who are studying Communication and are only interested in going abroad during the Spring semester may want to view the programs that include only that.

This tool helps online students have more of an idea of what opportunities are available for them to study abroad, and leads them to find more information on the study abroad program. This may include the deadline for applications, application fee, eligibility requirements, and more.

GPA Calculator

On every student’s SUU Portal, there is a GPA Calculator available as a tool to use at any point in their academic journey. This tool can help students gauge their semester and cumulative grade point average  based off the estimated grades students can enter in for each course. Students can find this tool in the My Courses tab.

Net Price Calculator

SUU has a Net Price Calculator tool that can be used to help students create a financial plan that they feel comfortable with. When students complete the form in the tool, they are provided with an estimate of their financial aid opportunities, as well as estimated costs.

Keep in mind that the estimator can only provide an estimate for one year rather than the whole program. So using this calculator each year is a good idea.  The estimate also includes housing costs, which may apply to in-campus students, but usually do not apply to online students.

Students can gain more knowledge on academic and financial aid opportunities available at SUU through this tool.

Licensure Map

Among the many degree programs offered at SUU, some of them lead to professional licensure, such as in fields of education, accounting, and nursing.  The tricky thing with licensing is that the requirements are governed by each state.  Sometimes, a license earned in one state can transfer to another state through things like reciprocity agreements. And sometimes,  the education requirements in an academic program can meet the requirements for licensing exams in another state...and sometimes they don’t.  What programs fit where is a lot to keep track of.

Thanks to SUU’s State Authorization Task Force , you can find out where your academic program meets requirements by using this interactive map .  Select a state from the map to see which programs qualify in that state.  It is also a good idea to read their advice about moving to another state, and how that impacts licensure.

Mental Agility Training Program

While this tool is not a type of calculator, it is a helpful resource for T-Birds who want to improve their mental performance in things like memory, learning, and focus.  Available as an on-demand course in the Canvas learning management system, Combat Brain Training has helped more than 11,000 people improve their abilities with this military-grade neuroplasticity training program.  Used by pro athletes, business executives, and families, this mental agility program can help you be your best.  And, SUU is the only institution to offer this transformative on-demand course.

There are so many cool tools available on SUU Online's website that can help you throughout your academic journey with us. These tools are designed to help and make your online experience smoother. So, don’t be afraid to use these tools as they are easy and effective to utilize.
