From flexible scholarship requirements to personalized financial aid, Southern Utah University is doubling down on its commitment to student success and equitable access.
As the first public university in Utah to move away from mandatory ACT/SAT requirements, SUU remains committed to providing equitable access for every aspiring T-Bird. While the world has changed since we first introduced our test-optional model, our philosophy hasn’t: we meet you where you are. Currently, for the majority of our academic merit scholarships, the choice is yours. We review both your GPA and your standardized test scores (if available) and automatically apply whichever one results in the highest possible scholarship for you. It’s that simple.
Note: For our Presidential (full-tuition) Scholarships, we have reintroduced the ACT/SAT requirement to ensure a comprehensive look at our top academic candidates.
Our institutional character is rooted in being a dependable partner for the hardworking students who want to improve their lives through education. This commitment is reflected in the numbers. SUU has been ranked among the top in the nation for the lowest student debt by U.S. News and World Report. We believe that affordability is an essential element of a transformative education - providing everyone with the momentum they need for a better tomorrow.
Making college affordable goes beyond just the initial award. We provide a "networked and empowering" environment that helps you navigate the complexities of financial planning.
To ensure you have the resources you need, SUU offers:
- One-on-One Appointments: Meet with financial aid experts for individualized budget breakdowns.
- FAFSA Assistance: Get hands-on help completing your financial aid applications.
- Supplemental Opportunities: Guidance on finding and applying for additional scholarship opportunities.
At SUU, you aren't just another face in a lecture hall; you are part of a community that is ready to challenge, validate, and support you from day one.
