The Dixie L. Leavitt School of Business offers an experiential learning environment that combines theory and practice, and is designed to prepare students to become fully engaged, productive and ethical members of the business community and society.

Dean Mary Pearson

Dean's message to our great Dixie L. Leavitt School of Business students, faculty and staff

Many of you have been inundated with updates on the COVID-19 disease that has literally disrupted the world. Through the chaos and uncertainty of this time, we have an opportunity to think of ways we can support and help each other be successful. Success is defined differently by each one of us, but understanding and patience are universal concepts we all appreciate.

Over the next few weeks we will do our best to promote a learning environment that represents who we are at Southern Utah University. For now the study rooms, finance lab, and computer labs in the business building will be open Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Fridays from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Your professors will communicate with you course requirements for the remainder of the semester and I encourage you to keep open and honest communication with them. Please observe the governor's instructions for social distancing when communicating with students, faculty, and staff.

Please know myself, Associate Dean Kim Craft and your Department Chairs Josh Price (Economics & Finance), Robin Boneck (Accounting), and Greg Powell (Management, Marketing, and Hospitality) want the very best for you as you complete your courses. They are available to address concerns you may have.

Please take time to go outside and read something not Coronavirus-related. Thank you for your hard work. You are amazing!

Mary Pearson
