Physics Programs
A Physics Minor at SUU prepares students for success in chemistry, geology, mathematics, engineering, and the health sciences. Nationally, physics students earn the second-highest MCAT scores (behind only biomedical engineering) and develop exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Students in the physics program enjoy unique hands-on opportunities, including access to the Ashcroft Observatory—a certified dark-sky facility open to the public for telescopic viewing—and a dedicated photographic darkroom.
Our physics faculty are deeply committed to student success. They maintain high standards of integrity while fostering confidence, curiosity, and lifelong learning. Through rigorous yet engaging courses, faculty sharpen analytical thinking and communication skills. They continually enhance their teaching through ongoing professional development, scholarly work, and dedicated service to SUU and the southern Utah community.
