VR/AR Initiatives
The VR/AR initiatives at SUU offer transformative opportunities for both students, faculty, and staff through experiential learning through emerging technologies. Faculty benefit from a dedicated cohort that fosters collaboration and innovative teaching methods, integrating immersive technology into the curriculum. The XR Southern Summit further amplifies this impact by connecting educators, industry leaders, and students, driving knowledge exchange and engagement. Additionally, campus-wide initiatives actively involve the SUU community in exploring the potential of VR/AR technologies, enriching the overall academic experience.
VR/AR Faculty Cohort

A team of nearly 30 professors from almost every department on campus are integrating emerging technologies into their curriculum. They have integrated VR/AR into over 20 classes with an outreach of over 1,500 students. Their classes utilize the VR/AR Classroom for lecture, classwork, and studying.
VR/AR Facilities
VR/AR Classroom
The first fully functional VR Classroom in the nation, SUU's campus has seen enhanced experiential educational learning for hundreds of students, despite the classroom itself being open for less than two full semesters.
VR/AR Innovation Studio
The Innovation Studio serves as a base for app development and exploration with the latest XR hardware technologies.
Content Development
Originating from working with a capstone group project, we now proudly maintain a development team of student workers and staff. This team continually works on projects that benefit the university in various areas, with an overarching goal of creating customized software that can be utilized in the classroom and campuswide.
Campus Engagement
The VR/AR Initiatives reach more than just the locations on campus. Sporting the VR/AR Club, the student body regularly engages in events and activities that allow them to experience VR in various ways. Aside from the student body, the local community also engages through public events.
