Studying General Studies at Southern Utah University allows students to manage the direction of their undergraduate education, and select courses from a wide variety of offerings. Program Requirements

To graduate with a Bachelor’s degree with a major in General Studies, the student is required to complete the SUU General Education curriculum and the BS (12 credits of Math or Science) or BA (16 credits of foreign language) requirement. Additionally, the General Studies degree requires students to complete a minimum of 48 credits (General Studies Courses) and the General Studies Capstone (GS 4000). Of the 48 credits, a minimum of 22 credits must be upper-division (inclusive of GS 4000).

Students’ total free elective credit is determined by their General Education courses taken, degree type selected (if applicable), additional credits earned, and any additional math or other prerequisite courses needed. Some students and/or programs may not have any free electives.

Other SUU graduation requirements include: 2.0 GPA (SUU and overall), 120 total credits, 40 upper-division credits, and 30 credits from SUU.
