Commencement Updates

Watch Graduation Livestreams

  • SUU Commencement 2020 will take place Saturday, August 8, 2020.
  • The online store to purchase your graduation regalia (cap, gown, tassel and hood) is now open and can be found to your left under "Helpful Links."
  • Commencement will held outside on the Upper Quad. Graduates and guests are asked to prepare for hot weather.
  • SUU will comply with state and federal health guidelines and all graduates will be required to wear masks and those in attendance should practice social distancing.
  • Family and friends can watch Commencement from surrounding SUU buildings via live streaming. The ceremony will also be streamed on SUTV-9 and on SUU's social media channels.

Graduation Schedule - Saturday, August 8, 2020

University Festivities

9:30 a.m. - Commencement Procession
Traditional procession that begins on Upper Campus. All graduates will walk under the Carter Carillon and are asked to be on Upper Campus at 9:00 a.m. to line up. 

10:00 a.m. - University Commencement, Upper Quad
The formal ceremony to confer degrees upon SUU's Class of 2020. This university-wide ceremony for 2020 includes the awarding of all degrees. 

Academic College Convocations

Each graduate is individually recognized, called to walk and accept their diploma in their respective academic college ceremony. ALL master's degree candidates (graduate degrees) receive their diplomas in at the 10 a.m. ceremony on the Upper Quad.  

10 a.m. - College of Humanities & Social Sciences, including associate's of science degree in criminal justice, legal studies, and paralegal studies; Upper Quad. 
10 a.m. - College of Performing & Visual Arts; Upper Quad.
10 a.m. - Beverley Taylor Sorenson College of Education & Human Development; Upper Quad.
10 a.m. - Walter Maxwell Gibson College of Science & Engineering, including associate's of science degrees in CAD/CAM, construction technology, equine sciences, information technology, and livestock farm management; Upper Quad.
10 a.m. - Dixie L. Leavitt School of Business; Upper Quad.
