Commencement Updates

Watch Graduation Livestreams

  • SUU Commencement 2020 is tentatively rescheduled for Saturday, August 8, 2020.
  • Graduates who purchased regalia (cap, gown, tassel or hood) prior to the postponement of the April 24th ceremonies have been issued a refund. A message will be sent via the portal later this summer informing graduates of the opportunity to purchase graduation regalia for August 8th.
  • If you did not receive a refund for purchased regalia, please email Kol Gibson.
  • Are you interested in receiving your regalia now for pictures and your own graduation celebration? If yes, complete this form: bit.ly/SUUregalia.
  • Graduates will receive diplomas in the mail approximately 4-6 weeks after the end of their last semester. Spring 2020 graduates can expect to receive diplomas between May 22 - June 5; Summer 2020 graduates will receive their diplomas in September.

University Festivities

9:30 a.m. - Commencement Procession
Traditional procession that begins on Upper Campus and ends at the America First Event Center. All graduates will walk under the Carter Carillon, and are asked to be on Upper Campus at 9:00 a.m. to line up. 

10:00 a.m. - University Commencement, America First Event Center
The formal ceremony to confer degrees upon SUU's Class of 2020. This university-wide ceremony includes the awarding of honorary doctorate degrees, a student speaker, and a keynote address. Doors open at 8:30 a.m.

11:00 a.m. - Graduation Celebration, Multi-Purpose Quad
An informal gathering of graduates with their family, friends, professors, and other guests before leaving campus. Free and open to all. 

Academic College Convocations

Each graduate is individually recognized, called to walk and accept their diploma in their respective academic college ceremony. ALL master's degree candidates (graduate degrees) receive their diplomas in their respective college convocation ceremonies. 

Time TBA - College of Humanities & Social Sciences, including associate's of science degree in criminal justice, legal studies, and paralegal studies; America First Event Center.
Time TBA - College of Performing & Visual Arts; Randall Jones Theatre.
Time TBA - Beverley Taylor Sorenson College of Education & Human Development; America First Event Center. 
Time TBA - Walter Maxwell Gibson College of Science & Engineering, including associate's of science degrees in CAD/CAM, construction technology, equine sciences, information technology, and livestock farm management; America First Event Center. 
Time TBA - Dixie L. Leavitt School of Business; America First Event Center.
