Data Science Educational Objectives
These objectives are distinct from the student learning outcomes in that they describe what graduates from the data science program are expected to attain in their careers within a few years after graduation as opposed to what they should know when graduating. A few years after graduation, data science graduates from SUU will:
- Apply data science methods and techniques including programming, statistical modeling, machine learning, and domain knowledge to analyze real-world problems using current tools, infrastructure, and industry-standard practices.
- Communicate data-driven insights clearly and effectively to diverse audiences through storytelling, visualization, and presentation skills.
- Collaborate and lead effectively in multidisciplinary teams, demonstrating professionalism, adaptability, and accountability in both independent and team-based environments.
- Pursue lifelong learning through professional development, certifications, or advanced degrees to remain current with evolving trends, tools, and techniques in data science and related fields.
- Uphold ethical standards consistently in data-related tasks, communication, privacy, and collaborative work.
