SUU in London

May 9 - 19, 2018

Come join other SUU students in London for 10 days!  We will explore the city and watch several plays in the world's greatest theatre district! The trip is open for ALL majors and anyone who likes to go to the theatre.  We also visit the movie studio where they filmed the Harry Potter movies, go to many museums and galleries, and sightsee throughout London.  The program can be used by SUU students for GE credit and an EDGE Project.  A limited number of spaces are also available to non-SUU students.

Theatre Junkies

We will see some of London's biggest musicals, most mesmerizing plays, popular farces, Olivier Award winners, and at least one show at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.  I let the students help pick the shows we see. Popular options include Wicked, Matilda, Woman in Black, Kinky Boots, and many more!

Art Nuts

We will visit world-class galleries and museums (in fact CNN recently outlined the 20 top museums in the world, we go to six of them!)

Harry Potter Lovers

We take a trip to Warner Brothers' Harry Potter studios and see the actual sets, costumes, and production items from the movies.  This is the actual movie studio with all the genuine items.

History Aficionados

We see landmarks and tourist sites throughout central London including touring Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London, walking across Tower Bridge, Shakespeare’s Globe, Buckingham Palace, Parliament and Big Ben, and we’ll even take a boat ride down the Thames River.

Sherlock Enthusiasts

If you like Sherlock Holmes, we walk past 221b Baker Street and take photos at the famous Sherlock Holmes statue outside the Baker Street Station of the London Underground.

Fans of Sci-fi, Fantasy, and Pop Culture

Find the Tardis, visit the Beatles store, sojourn to the "Forbidden Planet," and more!

Travel Bugs

For an additional $125 (or so) there is an optional bus tour of Stonehenge, the Roman Baths in Bath, and Windsor Castle where the royal family lives OR a bus trip to Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford, and Warwick Castle where Henry VIII lived. We leave one entire free day so students can take these optional trips, or just explore London on their own.
