Student Support Services (TRiO)

SSS Services Offered

 As a participant of SUU Student Support Services program you are eligible to use the services listed on this page.

Academic Advising

Student Support Services participants will receive one-on-one advisement designed to help you succeed in your courses and graduate with your degree within an efficient time frame. How do we do this? You will meet with your SSS advisor several times each semester to develop and assess your educational plan, review your academic progress, and provide supplemental support to your academic advisor.

Below is a general idea of some things that you can do in your meetings with your SSS advisor:

  • Select and register for classes;
  • Investigate possible majors and careers;
  • Learn study strategies to help you to be a successful student;
  • Get connected to resources and services on campus; and
  • Track your progress towards graduation

Assistance with course selection

SUU offers a plethora of courses, and selecting the right courses may seem quite daunting. Your SSS student advocate facilitates your ability to make informed decisions regarding pre-requisites, manageable course loads, degree requirements, realistic class schedules and a good balance of course work.

Major/Career advising

Assistance is available to help students identify resources available to choose a major and make career decisions considering their interests, talents and resources. For further help go to the SUU Career Services site.
