Graduate Writing Center Appointments
All appointments are made through WCONLINE, the GWC’s online scheduling system. Below, you’ll find information on how to register, book, and manage your appointments, along with details on appointment lengths, limits, and policies. To ensure you get the most out of your time with us, please review these details carefully before scheduling your session.
WCONLINE Appointment System
The GWC uses WCONLINE to schedule all appointments. To book an appointment, you’ll need to create your WCONLINE account first. To register, review our WCONLINE Registration Guide.
Appointment Updates & Policies
We meet with graduate students by appointment only. Before booking an appointment, please review the information below, along with our full Policies and Terms of Service. After booking, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a bit of information and appointment reminders via email (and text message, if you've opted in for texts). Appointment Lengths
All appointments are currently 45 minutes; however, appointment slots in WCONLINE appear as 1-hour blocks. By booking an appointment, you reserve the 1-hour block in which your 45-minute appointment will occur. We recommend booking a single 45-minute appointment for shorter papers (1-5 pages) or for feedback on approximately 5 pages of a longer paper.
For more tutoring time, you can book two back-to-back appointments. By booking back-to-back appointments, you reserve the 2-hour block in which your 90-minute appointment will occur. We recommend booking two back-to-back appointments for longer papers (5+ pages) or for feedback on larger portions of a longer paper.
Appointment Limits
- You may book appointments from 1 hour to 21 days in advance. You may edit, update, or cancel appointments up to 2 hours prior to your appointment time.
- You may book up to 1.5 hours of tutoring time per week: either two (2) 45-minute appointments in a single day or distributed throughout the week.
- If you miss four appointments, you will be blocked from making appointments for the remainder of the semester.
- For Written Feedback appointments, you must share your paper with us within 10 minutes of the scheduled start time; otherwise, your appointment will be marked as a “no-show,” and you will need to reschedule. You’re free to upload a paper to your appointment in WCONLINE up to 2 hours before your appointment time or email/share it with us at graduatewritingcenter@suu.edu within just 10 minutes of your scheduled time.
Appointment Types
The GWC offers two types of appointments to fit your needs and schedule. You can meet with a consultant live for real-time discussion and collaboration or request written feedback (by way of suggestions on your document) if you prefer to receive comments on your draft without a meeting.
Zoom Appointments
Meet with us live over Zoom for the most interactive, collaborative tutoring session! You can select the Zoom Appointment option on the booking form in WCONLINE. For details on how to join your Zoom appointment, see the booking form and your appointment confirmation email. We ask that you be present for the full session, and we encourage you to turn on your webcam and microphone for the best experience.
Written Feedback Appointments
Can’t meet with us over Zoom? Not a problem! You can book a Written Feedback appointment to receive feedback without having to meet with us in real time. The consultant will make comments on your paper and provide feedback for the passage you indicated on the booking form. You can expect to receive our feedback within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment. (Wait time may be longer if the GWC is experiencing technical difficulties.)
