Graduation is a momentous occasion, and preparing for the celebration is just as important as earning your degree. Whether you're counting down to the commencement ceremony or preparing to celebrate with family and friends, follow this comprehensive checklist to ensure a smooth and stress-free graduation experience!
Apply for Graduation
The first step is submitting your graduation application via the mySUU Portal. Be sure to do this by the appropriate deadline to avoid a $50 late fee. These are the key dates:
- Fall Semester: Oct. 15
- Spring Semester: Dec. 1
- Summer Semester: Dec. 15
Remember, you must apply by February 15 to be included in the Spring ceremonies and the commencement program.
SUU provides one regalia package free of charge, which includes the essential cap, gown, and tassel needed for the ceremonies (master’s graduates will also receive their graduate-level regalia). Additional items, such as stoles, are available for purchase online or in person at the Grad Fair.
Bachelor’s graduates who achieve academic excellence can receive a medallion based on their GPA. There is no need to apply for the medallion—simply attend the Grad Fair to pick it up!
Attend a Grad Fair
The Grad Fair is your one-stop shop for picking up regalia, ordering announcements, and exploring other graduation-related services.
View specific grad fair information here.
If you can't attend, designate someone else to pick up your regalia by submitting the Regalia Authorization Form.
Fill Out the Graduate Questionnaire
All graduates must complete the Graduate Questionnaire in the mySUU Portal at least two weeks before the end of the semester. This brief survey helps SUU gather important data on graduate outcomes, career plans, and feedback to improve student experiences. Your responses play a key role in shaping future programs and resources for T-Birds!
If you have questions, contact the Career Center or call 435-586-5420.
Printed Announcements
For those looking to send out personalized graduation announcements, SUU partners with CB Announcements. A representative will be at the SUU Bookstore in February, but you can also order online at cbgrad.com.
Decorate Caps & Prep Outfits
Decorating your mortarboard (grad cap) is a fun and creative way to showcase your personality, achievements, or future aspirations as you walk across the stage. You can choose an inspiring quote, school pride, or a design that reflects your journey. Here are some inspiring ideas!
Additionally, plan your outfit in advance to ensure you're comfortable and confident on your big day—opt for dress shoes that are easy to walk in and layers that work well with your gown for both style and practicality!
