College of S.T.E.M. Alumni Spotlight: Leen Samha

Since graduating from Southern Utah University in 2015, Leen Samha has gone on to leave a lasting impact on the medical field and the people around her. From completing an Emergency Medicine residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School to receiving several notable honors, Samha has proven her expertise time and time again.
SUU's commitment to recognizing individual students was an essential part of Samha's education. During her time at SUU, Samha was fortunate to form strong bonds with many of the faculty members. These mentors and friends were an essential part of Samha's SUU experience, and their relationships continue to be meaningful today. Samha also credits the opportunity to become a lecturing faculty member at SUU with helping her build a competitive foundation that may have been difficult to gain at a larger institute.
Her dedication to medicine and medical education has earned her several notable honors. Samha was awarded the San Diego Fire Department Paramedic Program Olaf Award for 2024-2025, an annual honor recognizing an outstanding faculty instructor nominated by the SDFD Fire-Paramedic class. She was also selected by the student body for recognition in compassion in healthcare through the Gold Humanism Honor Society, associated with the Arnold P. Gold Foundation.
Currently, Samha is focusing on global prehospital response and disaster medicine. She splits her time working in the U.S. and training EMS and emergency medicine resident physicians in turbulent areas in the Middle East. SAs she begins this next chapter of her life, Samha hopes to travel the world together with her spouse and her five cats.
