CCAMPIS stands for Child Care Access Means Parents In School. It is a grant from the Department of Education that can help subsidize the cost of child care.

Am I eligible?

To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a current tuition-paying student enrolled at SUU or Southwest Tech. This means if you have a tuition-waiver, we unfortunately cannot provide assistance.
  • Must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.3.
  • Must have filled out your FAFSA for the academic year before applying for CCAMPIS. If you have not filled out your FAFSA, we cannot offer assistance until you do so.
  • Must be Pell Grant eligible, or if you are not Pell Grant eligible, it must be for one of the following reasons:
    • Low-income second-degree-seeking student
    • Low-income graduate student
    • Low-income foreign student
Eligibility is based on a sliding scale that considers several factors, such as the number of credit hours you are taking, the number and age of your children, and financial need. Use the calculator below to determine your CCAMPIS award.

For how much aid am I eligible?

The maximum amount awarded will be up to 70% of child care fees and is based on income, enrolled credit hours, and age and number of children. We may have to ask for income verification via tax forms.

Enrolled Credit Hours:

  • Birth to Preschool Age Children: awarded 2 hours of child care weekly per 1 credit hour enrolled
  • Elementary Age Children: awarded 1 hour of child care weekly per 1 credit hour enrolled
  • Example: A student taking 15 credit hours will be awarded 15 hours of child care weekly for an elementary age child and 30 hours of child care weekly for a preschool age child.

How does CCAMPIS work?

Please read the eligibility requirements above before applying.

Once we receive your CCAMPIS application, we then determine the percentage of the cost we can cover, according to our sliding scale. We will then contact you with your award information. We will also contact you if you are ineligible or are put on a waiting list. If your application is late, you are automatically put on the waiting list until funding is available.

Then what?

Once you are accepted, there are a few requirements you must follow in order to remain funded.

  1. You must maintain a cumulative 2.3 or higher GPA. If you do not, you will be put on probation, and could be removed from the CCAMPIS grant.
  2. You must remain in good financial standing with your child care facility.
  3. You must participate in a workshop series. If you fail to attend or complete a workshop, you will have to return your award.
