University Commencement Ceremony

The formal ceremony to confer degrees on the Southern Utah University's Class of 2022.

Overflow locations for the University Commencement Ceremony and College Degree Convocations will be in the following locations: Sterling R. Church AuditoriumSharwan Smith Student Center Theater & Ballroom, and in the Dixie L. Leavitt Business Building Rooms 120 & 126. Ceremonies will be live streamed into each location.


Friday, April 29, 2022

8:00 a.m. • Graduate Procession Lineup • Upper Campus

Graduates from the following colleges should be dressed in cap and gown, and meet on the Upper Quad to participate in the traditional processional:

  • Dixie L. Leavitt School of Business
  • Walter Maxwell Gibson College of Sciences
  • College of Engineering & Computational Sciences
  • College of Humanities & Social Sciences 
  • Beverley Taylor Sorenson College of Education & Human Development
  • College of Health Sciences
  • College of Performing & Visual Arts

8:30 a.m. • Graduation Processional • Upper Quad
The procession passes under the Carter Carillon and ends at the America First Event Center.

9:00 a.m. • University Ceremony • America First Event Center (153 S. 800 W.)
The formal ceremony to confer degrees upon SUU's Class of 2021. This university-wide ceremony includes the keynote and student addresses, and the switching of tassels.

Open to all graduates and their guests. Tickets are not required for this ceremony, but seating preference will be made for graduates and their families. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. and guests should be seated 30 minutes prior to the processional of the graduates at 8:30 a.m.

College Degree Convocations: Friday, April 29, 2022

All graduates receive their diplomas at their respective College Degree Convocation Ceremonies. Graduates should arrive one hour prior to the start time of their Convocation and meet for check in outside in the tunnel area located on the northeast side of the America First Event Center. 

Guests are asked to enter the America First Event Center 20 minutes before each College Degree Convocation and be seated 10 minutes ahead to view graduates' processional.

  • 11:00 a.m.  -  College of Performing & Visual Arts, America First Event Center.
  • 12:30 p.m. - Beverley Taylor Sorenson College of Education & Human Development, America First Event Center.
  • 2:00 p.m. College of Health Sciences, including associate's of science degrees in equine sciences and livestock farm management, America First Event Center.
  • 3:30 p.m. - Walter Maxwell Gibson College of Sciences, including SUCCESS Academy, America First Event Center.
  • 5:00 p.m. - Dixie L. Leavitt School of Business, America First Event Center. 
  • 6:30 p.m. - College of Engineering & Computational Sciences, including associate's of applied science in aviation, associate's of applied science degrees CAD/CAM, construction technology, and information technology, America First Event Center.
  • 8:00 p.m. - College of Humanities & Social Sciences, including associate's of science degrees in criminal justice, general studies, legal studies, and paralegal studies, America First Event Center.

Ceremony and Convocation Broadcasts

University Commencement and each College Convocation will be streamed live online. The University Main Ceremony will also air live on SUTV.
