The following resources are meant to help individuals in need of extra assistance meeting their basic needs.

Food Resources

The campus HOPE Pantry | Helping Our People Eat

Open 9 am-5 pm, Monday through Friday for once per week use. Must be a current SUU student, appointment required. Appointments can be made with the HOPE Pantry link in the SUU Portal.

The True Life Center Pantry

Individuals and families can pick up a food bag filled with necessities each Wednesday between 2 and 6 pm. No qualifications or requirements.


Utah Food Bank Mobile Pantry
520 S 1100 W, Cedar City
First Friday of the month, 10:30 am-12:30 pm

Drive through Pantry service provided the first Friday each month. Bags/boxes are distributed on a first-come, first serve basis until the time ends or all food is distributed, whichever comes first.


SNAP Benefits

The SNAP program, formerly known as food stamps, provides food spending money loaded onto a debit-type card.

Households must meet income limits, asset limits, and other requirements, such as having a Social Security number and being a U.S. citizen or qualifying non-citizen. Key factors include having a gross monthly income at or below 130% of the federal poverty line for your household size and a net monthly income at or below the poverty line. There are also specific requirements for certain groups, such as students and elderly or disabled individuals.

WIC - Women, Infants, Children

This program provides food resources to pregnant, nursing, and postpartum women, as well as children up to age 5. To make an application appointment, contact the Southwest Utah Health Department, 435-586-2437.

Rent Assistance:
Qualified individuals and households may be eligible for assistance including current rent, three months of prospective rent, past-due rent, some fees, security deposit, utilities, and internet service.

Home Energy Assistance Target (HEAT) Program
The HEAT program provides assistance with utilities. HEAT Program Applications are accepted year-round.
