Pantry Quick Facts

  • The SUU HOPE (Helping Our People Eat) Pantry is one of the first campus pantries in the country, operation since spring of 2002.
  • During the 2017-18 school year, research conducted on campus found that 49 percent of students indicated they experienced food insecurity, either inadequate in quantity or nutrition, during the school year.
  • Since fall of 2019, the HOPE Pantry has seen Pantry use increase by over 400 percent.
  • In a typical week, the Pantry serves 125-150 students. Each student served is provided with $40 to $50 worth of food and supplies.

How You Can Help

  • Make a One Time Donation
  • Donate food or toiletry items. Some always-needed items include:
    • Ready-to-eat soups; canned chicken, tuna or Spam
    • Cold cereals, instant oatmeal
    • Canned fruits and vegetables
    • Peanut butter, jelly
    • Pasta, rice
    • Toiletry items; toothpaste, full-size soaps and shampoos, tampons or pads
  • Set up a recurring payroll deduction (SUU employees)
  • Volunteer
