What is SUU’s Speedway Program?

At Southern Utah University, the Speedway Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) Program is designed for people who need to complete a college degree but don't need it to be in a particular discipline, and for those who are looking for a more affordable way to receive a bachelor's degree.
This program is 100% online, and offers shorter classes, just seven weeks in length, at a heavily reduced tuition rate.
Speedway Features
The Speedway Program has many features that are worth mentioning.
- In this program only, each credit is $119 for in-state tuition (includes fees), which is 60% off the regular online tuition rate. For out-of-state tuition, each credit is $149 (includes fees), which is a 50% discount off the regular online tuition rate. This program's low cost is one of the most affordable ways to earn your bachelor's degree.
- Students choose from 40 curated courses that represent a variety of subject areas.
- All courses are taught in seven-week sessions. This allows students to focus on one or two classes at a time, and still be considered a full-time student.
- This program is offered only online, providing students with the flexibility to study around their own schedules.
- College credits earned, even 20 years ago, may be considered to transfer into the Speedway program. SUU registrars make the official determination on transfer credit, but you can use the SUU Transfer Guide to estimate what may be accepted.
- There is no cost to apply to this program.
Speedway Concentrations
While most students complete the Speedway Bachelor of General Studies by selecting from 40 curated courses, some students opt to follow one of three concentrations offered in the program. These concentrations include a defined set of courses pertaining to the concentration:
- Family Studies
- American Political Institutions
- Organizational Leadership
