German Language Program
Guten Tag, Moin, Servus, Grüezi!
Welcome to the SUU German Program! Students of German at SUU benefit from a close-knit intellectual community whose bedrock is award-winning language instruction and mentoring, under the direction of Professor Corey Twitchell. Classes are thought-provoking, intellectually challenging, and fun! German minors are encouraged to develop projects that match their own interests and help them develop key skills in communication, cultural competence, translation, and many others. SUU offers exciting opportunities to study and learn in Austria and Germany! Think about adding a German Minor to your Major!
Upon the completion of a German minor, our alumni are able to communicate with the 120 million native speakers of German, as well as express themselves with greater clarity and precision in their first language. The challenge of expressing complex ideas in German helps students develop a sense of how both English and German can be used effectively in oral and written communication. Graduates of German at SUU work in accounting, editing, filmmaking, law, marketing, medicine, politics, teaching, and many other fields.
The German program at SUU trains students in communicative skills in all aspects of German language. These skills include reading, listening, writing, and speaking German. The program also emphasizes cultural fluency through knowledge of German-speaking countries and regions throughout the world. Courses are open to all students, from beginners to intermediate and advanced learners.
